Advisors advocate for students, help in navigating higher education, and assist students in accomplishing their academic goals. Through inclusion and connection, adviors can open doors to new opportunities for self-awareness and growth, and empower students to define their roles as citizens within local and global communities

The Career & Professional Development Center (CPDC) is excited to announce that beginning Monday, August 24th, students can schedule all career coaching appointments* through Handshake! Note: this does not apply to Business Career Services.

What is Handshake?

Handshake is the CPDC’s primary portal for all career development resources and events with 5,000+ job and internship postings. Additionally, Handshake is hosting our upcoming six virtual fairs and expos planned for students this fall, and hosted our On-Campus Job fair Tuesday! We are excited to centralize our career development resources even further by offering appointment scheduling directly within Handshake. Don’t forget, you can request your very own student account on Handshake.

How do student’s schedule appointments in Handshake?

Scheduling an appointment is easy, and appointments are customized for bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral students. Students can make an appointment by navigating to OR through the Handshake App (Apple or Android). As a reminder, we are providing career coaching virtually to students this fall to limit traffic through our office and increase accessibility for our students. Students will be provided a link and phone number with meeting ID in their appointment email confirmation, and will have the option to join the appointment via the link, or by phone.

What about the Career Studio?

In addition to appointments, beginning Monday, August 24th, the Career Studio will be open virtually Monday – Friday, 2-7PM for students to drop-in for support with resumes, cover letters, and job/internship resources. Students can begin a live chat with a Career Ambassador using the live chat feature on our website. If students need additional assistance, they will be invited in to a private and secure Zoom meeting where they can screen share their documents and get even more of their questions answered.

How can I help?

All links on our website will be updated before 8am on Monday, August 24th. If you have a link on your website directing students to ConexED/Cranium Café for appointments, we ask that you please update the link to We will also have a temporary message under “Career Center (CPDC)” in the ConexED/Cranium Café Student Support Directory, directing students to Handshake to schedule an appointment. Attached you will also find various postcards to promote scheduling appointments in Handshake. Please feel free to share your favorite design (or all of them!) with your students.
